About Us

“Together, we work with communities to mobilize change around youth and alcohol”.

The Panhandle Prevention Coalition for Children, Youth and Families (PPCCYF) is a regional-based collaboration of key stakeholders in western Nebraska including law enforcement, city and county governments, education, health care, human service agencies, business, parents, etc. – Our mission: To promote healthy and safe environments for all children, which reduce risks of alcohol and substance use and enhances individual and community wellness.

We believe that the root cause of adolescent alcohol use lies in community norms, practice and policies. It is our goal to reverse such trends through collaboration, education, community engagement and the development of policies and practices that reduce the availability and consumption of alcohol among Panhandle youth.

As participating members of the coalition, each of the eleven counties of the Panhandle cooperate on joint prevention projects funded in part by the State Incentive Cooperative Agreement (SICA) and Drug Free Communities grants.

These local coalitions work with regional leaders to determine data driven, outcome oriented strategies for the future of prevention throughout the region, based on the infrastructure and plans developed under the SICA grant.

PPCCYF is a standing committee of the Panhandle Partnership for Health and Human Services, a broad based grass roots and 60-member agency collaboration formed in 1996.
